Dr Aysha Al-Ani 

Dr Aysha Al-Ani is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Endoscopist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH), receiving her FRACP in 2021. She completed basic physician training at the RMH and undertook advanced gastroenterology training at the RMH, Launceston General Hospital and Eastern Health. Aysha completed an Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Fellowship at the RMH in 2020, gaining valuable research and clinical experience, most notably in IBD management in pregnancy and proficiency in intestinal ultrasound. She combines clinical practice with academic research and is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne for which she is the recipient of multiple scholarships from Crohn’s and Colitis Australia (CCA), the University of Melbourne and Avant and was also awarded the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) Celltrion Healthcare IBD Fellowship for 2022. Aysha established the inaugural RMH-Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI) IBD biobank to facilitate study in preclinical mechanisms of IBD, with the collaborative work awarded the Rainin Innovator Award 2023-2025.
