Gayathry Krishnamurthy is a computational genetics final year PhD candidate in the Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Genomics Group at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research, University of Tasmania. Her research is primarily focused on identifying shared genetic risk factors that contribute to sex-specific CVD risk in women, particularly those with a history of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, and examining the implications for later-life cardiovascular risk. Through her work, Gayathry aims to enhance understanding and awareness of these risks, contributing to the development of tailored interventions that can improve women’s cardiovascular health.
In addition to her research, Gayathry has been actively involved in various science outreach initiatives, striving to raise public awareness about the importance of recognising sex-specific CVD risks and the role of genetics in women’s health. Her contributions to the field have been recognised with the prestigious Zuspan Award at the International Society for the Study of Hypertension in Pregnancy (ISSHP) World Congress 2023. |
